HERE, God van Israël, er is in de hemel en op de aarde geen God als Gij, die het verbond en de goedertierenheid houdt jegens uw knechten welke met hun gehele hart voor uw aangezicht wandelen…
Indien uw volk Israël verslagen wordt door de vijand, omdat zij tegen U gezondigd hebben, en zij zich bekeren, uw naam belijden en voor uw aangezicht in dit huis bidden en smeken … hoor Gij dan in de hemel, vergeef de zonde van uw knechten en van uw volk Israël, – want Gij wijst hun de goede weg waarop zij moeten wandelen – en geef regen op uw land..(2Kronieken 6:14,24,27)
Het is eigenlijk wel raar als je erover nadenkt.
In de zendingsgebieden waar de Adventkerk al zeker 30 jaar het minst is gegroeid, is de meest felle kritiek en tegenkritiek geuit op de aanstelling van Ted Wilson. Die gebieden waren niet in staat de mensen te bereiken met hun nieuwe boodschap. Maar weinig zielen werden aan het koninkrijk der waarheid toegevoegd.
En uitgerekend in die gebieden is de Adventgemeenschap in rep en roer. Mensen zijn boos, verdrietig, blij, hoopvol gestemd, teleurgesteld, ontmoedigd, bemoedigd, uit hun evenwicht geslagen, gekwetst, geïnspireerd, gedeprimeerd, ze uiten hun frustraties, voor 30 jaar ingehouden, hun blijdschap en hun bezorgdheid. De hele caleidoscoop aan emoties.
Ze stellen vragen waarop geen antwoord komt en wellicht ook geen goede antwoorden te geven zijn. Te midden van het tumult zit God op Zijn troon, kijkt neer op Zijn volk en wacht …
Wacht totdat de woede is bekoeld, alle verontwaardiging is uitgesproken en er iemand vraagt: “Heer, maar wat nu? Hoe gaan we vanaf hier verder, want hier op dit kruispunt kunnen we niet blijven staan? Hoe houden we het schip varende. met iedereen veilig binnen boord? Hoe houden we zicht op de juiste koers, de waarheid niet verloochenend, Uw Scheppingsmacht niet ontkennend, Uw profeten niet dodend, elkaar vergevend?” Als we maar zouden willen erkennen, over en weer, dat er grote fouten zijn gemaakt. Niet alleen de afgelopen maand, maar 30 jaar lang. Heer, zou U luisteren? Nog steeds?”
Ik heb vandaag een zachte stem gehoord, die zei: “Begin te bidden, meer te bidden en tijdens dat bidden zul je Mijn antwoord ontvangen. Ik zal de weg wijzen. Maak contact met Mij, maak je klein, erken je fouten en wees stil om Mijn zachte stem te horen.
Het is heel moeilijk, Ik weet het, wanneer iedereen om je heen en jijzelf ook, gevaar roept en Mijn stem haast niet meer hoorbaar is.
Maar Ik zal niet schreeuwen. Ik weiger te schreeuwen. Mijn spreken tot je hart is altijd zacht, en als je vraagt en aandachtig luistert, zul je horen en doen wat Ik je zeg; je zult op weg gaan,. Eindelijk …” Ook ik moet bekennen dat ik die stem vaak mis. Te druk, te verontwaardigd, teveel pijn, teveel ijver … Maar God zal Zijn werk tot een afsluiting brengen, met of zonder mij, ALS Zijn Volk, dat afgedwaald was (Jesaja 53:6), Bidt.
Dit is een oproep om, hoe dan ook - beter te laat dan niet –voorbereiding te treffen voor een herstart van de wereldwijde gebedsoproep van Operation Global Rain. Een oproep aan zondaars – dat is iedereen, “er is immers geen mens die niet zondigt” - om te bidden tot een Oneindig vergevende God, die al zo lang wacht totdat zijn volk verstandig wordt … Van 5 t/m 14 januari 2011 start een 10-daagse gebedsrally. We hebben onze Amerikaanse broeders gevraagd de Engelse artikelen er weer op hun site zetten. Ze werken hard om alles gereed te maken.
Laten we individueel gaan bidden. Nu. Voor echte opwekking en hervorming. We hebben dat ook in dit land nodig. Dat het eerst mag beginnen in ons eigen hart. Genoeg mijn, uw verontwaardiging geventileerd. We hebben onze harten goed gelucht, laten we nu stil zijn, God zal Zijn werk doen…
Onze kerk is 4 weken terug weer bepaald bij haar doel en plicht. Dit is de Adventbeweging, er is geen andere. We zijn niet zomaar een kerk; we zijn belast met een heilige vracht en aan ons is de opdracht om het schip thuis te brengen.
Neem vandaag een moedig besluit: blijf aan boord – we willen u er heel graag bijhebben, bijhouden, geeft niet wie u bent en bij welk “kamp” u tot nu toe hoorde – maar laat het schip niet door muiterij averij oplopen.
Er is werk aan de winkel!
God heeft onze handen, voeten, monden en tedere harten nodig. Laten we hergroeperen en onze energie stoppen in de voorbereiding van de verkondiging van de Luide Roep. Die zal komen, of u het nou wil of niet. Het is in Zijn Plan vervat. U kunt vandaag bepalen of u er aan deel zult nemen. Jezus komt. Bereid u voor Hem te ontmoeten. O LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts … And if thy people Israel be put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee; and shall return and confess thy name, and pray and make supplication before thee in this house…
Then hear thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou hast taught them the good way, wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land .. (2Chronicles 6:14,24,27)
It is quite odd, actually, when come to think of it. In the mission fields where the Advent movement has seen scarcely a growth for almost 30 years now, we’ve seen the fiercest criticism and contra criticism on the appointment of Ted Wilson. Those areas have not been able to reach the people with their new message. Few souls were added to the kingdom of truth.
And apparently in those areas the Advent community is in uproar. People are angry, sad, hopeful, disappointed, discouraged, encouraged, knocked out of balance, hurt, inspired, depressed, they give word to their frustrations, held in for of 30 years, their joy and the concerns. The whole kaleidoscope of emotions.
They ask questions that are not answered and to which most probably there are no good answers to be given.
In the midst of the uproar God is sitting on His throne, looking down unto His people and waiting … Waiting until the anger is raged out, all indignation is said, and someone asks: “Lord, but what now? How do we proceed from here, because we cannot linger on this inter section here? How do we keep the ship going, with everyone safe on board? How can we maintain the right course, not denying the truth, not denying Your Creation power, not killing Your prophets, and forgiving each other? If only we would be willing to acknowledge, every side, that we’ve made some great mistakes. Not only in the past month, but for 30 years on end. Lord, would You be willing to listen? Still? I’ve heard today a soft voice, saying, “Start praying, more prayer, and during that prayer you will hear My answer. I will show the way. Seek My face, humble yourselves, acknowledge your wrongs and be still to hear My soft voice.
It’s hard, I know, when everyone around you and even you are creaming havoc and My voice is hardly heard.
But I will not start screaming too. I reject screaming. My speaking to your heart is always soft, and if you ask and listen carefully, you’ll hear and do what I tell you; you will go. Finally …” I too must confess that I miss that voice all too often. Too busy, too indignant, too much pain, too zealous …
But God wants to bring His work to a closing, with of without me, IF His People, that was gone astray (Isaiah 53:6), Pray.
This is a call, no matter what - better late than not - to prepare for a restart of the world wide prayer call of Operation Global rain.
A call to sinners - that’s everyone, “for there is no man which sinneth not” - to pray to an Infinite, forgiving God, who is waiting for so long now for His people to come to its senses. Four weeks ago, our Church has been confronted with her aim and duty. Once again. This is the Advent movement, there is no other. We are not just any denomination; we are charged with a holy cargo and our commission is to bring the ship home.
Make a courageous decision today, stay aboard- we want you very much to stay, to keep you here, no matter who you are, no matter what “camp” you belonged to up till now – but don’t let the ship suffer damage due to mutiny. There is work to be done!
God needs our hands, feet, mouths and tender hearts. Let’s regroup en put all our efforts in the preparation of the proclamation of the Loud Cry. For it will come, whether you like it or not. It’s part of His Plan. You may decide today if you will be taking part in it. Jesus comes. Prepare to meet Him.
