BUC PRESIDENT RESPONDS TO OUTBREAK OF WAR IN IRAQ

Following the start of hostilities in Iraq this week and the intense media
coverage of the conflict, BUC President Pastor Cecil Perry has today issued
    the following statement:

"The British Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, together with
millions of other Christians throughout the world, regrets the outbreak of
war in Iraq. We wish that the circumstances which seemed to have
    precipitated it had not occurred.

"It is our hope that the conflict will be over soon and those caught up in
it will be mercifully spared its tragic consequences.

"Let us make the restoration of peace and healing in this war the subject of
our prayers. Conflicts are the result of the breakdown of human
relationships because of our sinful condition. Despite their inevitability
we must work and pray not only to make peace but to keep it.

"As we anticipate a speedy end to the war we hope that the Christian Church
will have a part to play in the process of relieving suffering and bringing
    about healing."
