It's between You and me, It's about Us
The safest place I know..

It has been one year ago that my friend, nephew, pastor & evangelist, Kelvin Jack, has been shoot down and killed while shopping groceries in New York. I have some great memories of him, especially when we talked about the one think that we loved so much.. sharing the truth of the Gospelmessage. Though we are part of different denominations and may look very differently at certain passages of Scripture. The love for the Word and the limitless mercies and grace of Jesus Christ and the Love of the Father was first and foremost in all our deliberations.
Shot down while doing groceries. He might never know that his last actions, his last words, his last acts of love for his fellowmen would be at the parkinglot of a supermarket. We all believe that we are safe... safe in our fortress of houses. Safe in this world. Safe from all the evil the devil might throw against us. But this world cannot give certainty in matters of safety.
Well as a Christian, I know there isn't a place on earth where I will be free from sin, temptation, shame, guilt or despair. There is no place on earth where I can hide with 100% safetly from guns, bombs and rockets. There isn't a place where people can't find me. My nephew thought he was safe. He thought he could go back from New York to St Martin to be with his girlfriend. He thought he could go back to preach the gospel to his congregation. But he couldn't he wasn't safe on the streets of New York.
I pray everyday that i can be safe. Safe from harm. I try my uttermost. But true safety.. true protection is only found in Christ.
When i think about safety in C"hrist... I think about the song: Secret Place by Commissioned
I was young then
But I remember when
When I'd need to hide away
I had a secret place I'd go
Where I could just be on my own
And I didn't feel afraid
But even though I'm older now and things have changed
When I'm in your arms I'm right back there again
You're the place that I can run to
When I need somewhere to hide
You're my compass and my lifeline
All wrapped into one
You're where I feel safe
You're my secret place
When no one understands
And I feel like half a man
And I can't make it through the day
When nothing's makiing sense
And my soul is bruised and bent
And I've lost all of my faith
You always seem to find a way to get me through
All I know is I'm a better man with you
You're the place that I can run to
When I need somewhere to hide
You're my compass and my lifeline
All wrapped into one
You're where I feel safe
You're my secret place
My nephew was not safe.. on Earth, but He shall be safe with Christ on the new earth. and not only Him. But all who'll put their trust in Him. Trusting Him in the morning, the evening and even when we sleep. Clining to Him when we are happy and even more close when we are in harms way. Christ is the safest place I know.
If we abide in Christ, He will surely abide with us... Let me hide in You.. it's is the safest place I know. If we die in Christ we will be restored to everlasting life. When Christ returns and bring new life, joyful life... for evermore... I believe that i will meet my nephew in the safest place there is.. With Christ!
Some gospel songs tells us about the relationship between a married couple, and at the same time the relationship between Christ and his beloved creation, Us. Just read the words of this song. It's based on Romans 8:38-39 - " For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
I hope that you will be blessed by the reading of these wonderful words:
On my own I'm weak
On my own I need
A little hang now and then
Just to tunnel me through
Another mountain
On my own I stumble
On my own I crumble
Beneath the weight of worries
Beneath the skies of trouble
Raining over me
But then you come like the morning
Turning my world with a touch
Can't nothing come against us
As long as we're together
There's no table we can't turn
There's no problem we can't weather
As a matter of fact
And a matter of trust
We have nothing to fear
As long, as long, as long as we have us
On my own I struggle
On my own I'm not able
Without someone like you
Just to carry me through
Another valley
On my own I'm nothing
On my own I'm just wandering
Without a purpose or goal
Down a lonely road
That's never ending
Until your faith in me
Gave me a reason to believe\
Can't nothing come against us
As long as we're together
There's no table we can't turn
There's no problem we can't weather
As a matter of fact
And a matter of trust
We have nothing to fear
As long, as long, as long as we have us
We can make it
We can make it through anything
If we don't let change break us apart,
I'll be that one and only friend
That you can sure depend upon
My hope and prayer is that you will renew and strengthen your relationship with the great I am. Because if you have HIM… we have nothing to fear. It’s a matter of trust and a matter of fact!
